Tamara Jewett - Canada

Triathlon Magazine Canada’s 2021 Triathlete of the Year: Elite Women (Long Distance)

Tamara Jewett is Triathlon Magazine Canada’s 2021 Triathlete of the Year: Elite Women (Long Distance).  She surged through PTO rankings from 2019 to 2021 – from 324th to 46th in swim rankings, from 307th to 69th in bike rankings, and from 164th to 1st in run rankings.  Tamara’s impressive running resulted in a 1:13:08 half-marathon split, the fastest ever by a woman at that distance and gave her a second-place finish at Ironman 70.3 Augusta.

Tamara, a tax lawyer with Torys LLP, was a former U of T cross country and track runner who, after suffering a series of injuries, turned to swimming and cycling for cross-training which led her to triathlon.  She began as an age-group triathlete in 2018 turning pro the following year and soon after in 2020, won the Canadian Pro Triathlon Championships.  Needing race wheels during the pandemic when it was difficult to get any equipment, her coach led her to Nic who provided her with Sōr wheels.
